A
THOUSAND AND ONE WAYS TO HAVE FUN...BY DAY AND BY NIGHT
From the moment
dawn breaks, Melilla is a bewitching melange of lights,
colours and people who always have a smile or a kind word
to spare.
A great start to the day is to relax
at a pavement cafe sipping a good cup of mint tea while enjoying
the hubbub of the city streets. A relaxing stroll around the
squares and city streets will lead us to its museums, historic
buildings and unusual exhibitions.
Perhaps the most interesting museums in the city are the Melilla
Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Military History.
A picturesque cultural atmosphere prevails at the Exhibition
and Conference Centre, the 'Hospital del Rey',
the Federico García Lorca Cultural Centre (the
local Open University centre), or the 'Ejércitos'
Cultural Centre (the Military Casino).
In the summer months, beachside and promenade cafes and restaurants
enliven the atmosphere, and a new shopping mall near the Marina
offers many cafes, bars, cinemas and other places to relax
and enjoy your leisure.
Since the weather in Melilla is good all the year round, the
Melillans are often to be found enjoying a stroll around the
city's many parks and gardens.
The 'General Hernández' Forest Park, near
'España' square; 'Cándido Lobera' Park,
where one can spend some time bird-watching; or 'Agustín
Jerez Rodríguez' Park, are areas full of peace
and tranquillity where one can while away a quiet afternoon.
When night falls, Melilla becomes a city of fun for all.
From clubs and discos where you can dance the night away to
quieter places where you can relax in the balmy evening air
of Melilla. Most night life is to be found in the area around
the Noray Marina, and the 'Tesorillo' and 'Real'
neighbourhoods.
